APR, APY and the costs of staking
See how compounding, reward commissions, token prices and fixed costs change the difference between quoted yield and a staking scenario.

APR and APY imply different period rates
For this calculator, APR divided by reward periods gives the gross period rate. APY instead gives the period rate whose compounded annual result equals the quoted APY. Changing the rate type keeps your typed percentage and requires a new calculation; it does not silently convert the input.
APR period rate = annual rate / periods per year
APY period rate = (1 + annual rate)^(1 / periods per year) − 1
Net period rate = gross period rate × (1 − reward commission)Commission applies before reinvestment
The model deducts commission from each reward, rather than from the original principal. Reinvested net rewards compound. Without reinvestment, rewards accumulate separately and are included in ending tokens. Fractional reward periods use a smooth power estimate, not a protocol's exact payout calendar.
A hypothetical token gain with a USD loss
Starting with 1,000 tokens at 12% APR, monthly reinvestment and 10% reward commission gives about 1,113.509675 tokens after 365 days. If entry price is $2, exit price is $1.80 and fixed costs are $10, ending token value is about $2,004.32. Against $2,010 of starting value and costs, net loss is about $5.68. Fixed costs are paid separately; they do not reduce the token principal.
Keep the assumptions editable
The staking calculator assumes a fixed rate and a 365-day year. It does not predict slashing, lockups, taxes, withdrawability or token prices. The compound interest calculator models monthly contributions using an effective annual rate. A transferred net annual staking rate remains a scenario assumption, not an available savings offer.
