About iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF

iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, traded as IBIT, gives shareholders exposure to bitcoin through a security listed on Nasdaq. The trust holds bitcoin and seeks to reflect its price, with expenses and liabilities affecting the result. Buying an IBIT share creates an interest in the trust's net assets. It does not give the shareholder a wallet balance that can be sent across the Bitcoin network. The issuer identifies the CME CF Bitcoin Reference Rate, New York Variant, as its benchmark and publishes fund information alongside its prospectus. [issuer]

iShares Delaware Trust Sponsor LLC sponsors the trust within BlackRock's iShares business. The prospectus assigns separate responsibilities to the sponsor, trustees, administrator and custodians. Those roles matter because operating a bitcoin trust includes holding assets, calculating net asset value, keeping shareholder records and arranging the creation and redemption of large share baskets. A familiar brokerage ticker therefore sits on top of several service arrangements. The sponsor's name identifies the legal operator; BlackRock and iShares identify the wider asset management business that markets the product. [prospectus]

IBIT's exchange price and its net asset value describe different things. The exchange price is what buyers and sellers agree in the share market, while net asset value measures the trust's assets after liabilities. They can differ during trading. The issuer publishes both measures and information about shares outstanding, spreads and premiums or discounts. Its bitcoin quantity should also be read with the accompanying accounting notes. Holdings figures and financial statements can use different reporting conventions, so two figures carrying the same date do not necessarily measure an identical balance. [issuer]

This page collects SEC submissions under the trust's verified CIK rather than treating the product website as a filing archive. Annual reports, quarterly reports, prospectuses and current reports serve different purposes and may describe different periods. A filing date tells you when a document reached the SEC; a report date identifies the period it covers. IBIT is not registered as an investment company under the Investment Company Act of 1940. Its prospectus explains the trust structure, bitcoin risks and operational arrangements in detail, and remains the reference for the terms applicable to a particular investment. [prospectus]
